Just Plain Funny

I wish there were more amusing things going on in my life, so I could tell a funny story or anecdote. But, alas it seems that things are ho hum and there isn’t much hullabaloo in life. I used to think that I was a funny person. I kind of prided myself on my sense [...]

The War Machine

Sometimes you wake up in the morning and you feel glorious. Your son is snugly, soft, cuddly, and charming. You just want to sit there and smile at each other all day long. You thank the heavens that you are a mother and living your blessed life.
Then there are those other days. The days you [...]

Retrospective Edition 1

It has been an amazing year. Between 2007-2008 many life changing events have occurred. Wesley being the biggest and most beautiful change. Sometimes I look at my life, and I wonder if I made any mistakes.  I wonder if I have given up too much to start a family when I was fairly young. Should [...]

Giddyup Cowboys

It is all over now. The big event, the one we had been looking forward to (and when I say “we” I use it liberally, meaning probably only myself). Christmas time! Oh Boy!

I work with kids. I have taught for four years now working with kids ranging from 4-7. There is one common thread that runs through each class. No matter how different the class, one thing is constant. Boys. Boys and their mouth noises. I don’t know why boys have to make mouth noises, but they [...]

A Barrel of Laughs

Wesley, the serious Autry, was a late smiler. He made up for the fact by being a great smiler since. Then there was the laugh. Getting a laugh, a genuine laugh, out of Wesley was seemingly only a job Franny could do. I got a little down wondering if I could ever be as funny [...]

Textures

Everyone has their thing, the thing that makes their skin crawl. Like nails on a chalk board, forks scraping plates, etc. The thing that really gets me is the sound of fingernails scratching fabric. I don’t know why, but it hurts. The thicker the textile, the more painful the sound.
Well, wouldn’t you know it, I [...]
